CROP Walk: Sunday, September 29 @ 2-5pm
On Sunday, September 29th, we have an opportunity to join with our friends and neighbors to raise funds for local and global initiatives to combat hunger. The Crop Walk will take place between 2-5pm that day at Trail Lake Park 605 Ravenna Rd. in Streetsboro.
This year, congregations in Kent are taking the lead. We are invited to join through giving and/or by walking in solidarity. Please connect with Kristen Pool if you’re interested in learning more.
Join the Northern Portage Disciples of Christ Team at this webpage: https://events.crophungerwalk.org/cropwalks/team/northern-portage-disciples-of-christ.
There are two trails to choose from--a 1.62 mile ADA accessible asphalt trail that circles the lake and goes through woodlands and meadows and a 1.48 mile natural surface trail through wetlands, woodlands, and meadows. You can also walk a distance of your own choosing.
How you raise funds is up to you. Share our social media posts, and ask your friends and family to pledge a certain amount for you completing the walk. Ask them to double it if you jog the whole way! Ask for a contribution for every bird you count, or every cartwheel you do--be creative! People can give you their donations to turn in to the church clearly marked CROP Walk, or donate online on our Team page.
We will provide you with more information you can share about where the money goes--for instance, $20 will provide chickens for a family, so they have a constant supply of eggs (protein), which helps children become stronger and healthier. A portion of what we donate will stay in our community, to help with food insecurity locally.
If you wish to participate, either as a walker or a donor, please let Kristen Pool (moderator@hiramchristianchurch.org or 330.842.1054) know so we can share information. Also let her know if you have any questions. It would be wonderful to have lots of people show up for the Northern Portage Disciples Team!
