And they'll know we are Christians by our Love...

Every community of faith has a spirit they seek to embody and cultivate. Our congregation has discovered Love to be the roots that ground us and the star that guides us. Love is the essence of God; it is the way of Christ; it is the generative work of the Spirit. In Love, there is Grace, Justice, and Peace. In Love, there is Life. And we strive to welcome, receive, and extend that Love into the world.

Love is the way.

We are created out of Love and in connection to God, the earth, and one another. Christ reveals that the way of abundant Life - the way of joyful living, the way of fullness, the way of integrity and wholeness - is Love. We are a community of human beings that strive to accept this Love of God, Love ourselves, and Love one another and the world - even our enemies. This - to receive and embody compassion - we believe, is what it means to be a Christian.

Whether it's by starting an institution to educate young people from all over the world or by offering forgiveness, Faith moves us to creative acts and words that bless all the families of the earth.

We are grateful for the blessings that these organizations provide to the community, and we are grateful to continue in relationship with these partners in ministry.

Hiram College

In 1850, members of the Hiram Christian Church came together with other Disciples in Northeast Ohio to create the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute, which soon became Hiram College. Then and now, it is a premier Liberal Arts college that provides young adults from all over the world with an education that equips them for life within a community to be themselves.

Hiram Farm

In 2009, members of Hiram Christian Church came together to create a learning and working community for adults with autism. Today, the Farm serves just over 30 adults with meaningful work and life-giving relationships on 100 acres of pure organic goodness.

Church is something you go to

and something you become

together

The late theologian, James Cone, offered his wisdom that the Church is to proclaim the reality of divine liberation, to participate in the struggle for liberation, and to be a visible manifestation of the gospel proclamation of liberation - each congregation becoming the beloved community. This is what we strive to do and who we strive to be as Hiram Christian Church. We invite you to join with us.
