We are a congregation striving to follow Christ in the ways of love, to cultivate a community of belonging, and to do our part of restorative justice in the world.

Whoever you are, and wherever you are within life’s most holy journey, you are welcome, and you belong.

Faith Formation

The Church is a community grounded in the compassion and ways of Christ. We learn from tradition, experience, and one another. We seek to live into the blessed knowledge that we are beloved by God, that we belong within this good earth, and that we are invited to be none other than who God has created and calls us to be. Questions and doubts are welcome here, not challenged. Wisdom and grace come from many sources within and outside of the church. We seek to honor it all.

Community of belonging

We begin with belonging. There is a divine diversity within humanity and this is not something to challenge, but something to honor. Who you are is a gift of God. We strive to not only welcome but affirm the myriad identities of beloved children of God and to create genuine community together. Who you are is for you to determine, and for the church to behold. Hiram Christian Church has committed itself to being an Open and Affirming Church.

Doing our part of restorative justice

God's vision and dream is one of justice and peace. There is encouragement for individuals and groups to discern where Christ is calling them and to step in to actions, work, and movements that lead to restorative justice and wholeness. How is God calling you into works of reconciliation and healing in the world?

Scripture, Experience, Tradition, Reason and More enter into the sacred conversation to better understand God, ourselves, the world, and the connection between us all.

At Hiram Christian Church, we take a generous approach to faith formation.

We host Sunday school for children and adults on Sunday mornings prior to worship. We honor life experiences and the wisdom and grace of traditions. We honor reason, logic, and science, and see them as essential to the sacred conversation of what it means to be human. And, we hold a humility in conviction that we may listen to one another and our neighbors, and receive of new experiences and new wisdom that always breaks into our lives. Whether you are growing within the tradition as you received it, questioning and deconstructing what you inherited to discover something richer, you are welcome with all of your convictions, your doubts, your questions, your faith.

Faith is a journey lived in community.

Genuine relationships shape us, nurture us, and reveal beauty to us. We gather as neighbors; we gather as friends; we gather as siblings. We befriend one another and find blessing in the graces of sacred relationship. To be yourself and discover that you are welcome and loved - this is how we grow into learning and trusting that we are beloved children of God called to be a blessing to the world. Christ invites us to be in relationship with others, for it is a blessing to us all.

Love and justice go hand and hand, and lead us on.

Our world has no shortage of injustices to confront, and we believe that Christ offers ways to bring justice through love. Whether the justice we are seeking is located within our families or throughout the complex systems we inhabit, we strive to embrace models of restorative justice. Love that works for justice not only mends, but heals.

At Hiram Christian Church, we encourage one another to join in Christ's ministry of healing, mending, and reconciling the world - in and through the ways of love.
